The latest publication from Camberwell-based local historian, Stephen Bourne, is a book about Dr Harold Moody, a key black historical figure during the first half of the twentieth century.
Dr Moody came to Britain from Jamaica in 1904 and studied medicine at King's College Hospital. He had a popular GP practice in Peckham but is best known as an ambassador for Britain's black community during the 1930's and 40's. With his organisation, the League of Coloured Peoples, he campaigned to improve the plight of African and Caribbean settlers in Britain.
The book is aimed at a younger readership but will appeal to all those with an interest in black British or local history.
