South London Gallery’s project on Camberwell’s Sceaux Gardens estate is whipping up attention with its creative approaches to working with the community.
The Sceaux Garden Estate Development Think Tank (Fun) Club find playful ways to combat climate change. Artist Andrea Mason runs Saturday workshops on the estate from a former shop, from 2-5 every afternoon. A shared communal allotment has recently sprouted tomatoes, beans, beetroot, lettuce and pumpkins.
Future sessions will see a disco powered by bicycle power and a new shed, designed and built by children. A final Manifesto for Change will be performed by residents and tenants on Sept 6th and is open for all to come along.
